"Darkness isn't all one shade, sweetheart." Three centuries ago, Molly Darling’s ancestors signed a contract in blood—daemon blood—to protect themselves from harm. On the eve she turns nineteen, Molly leaves for her birthday party against her parent’s wishes, sick of their warnings about her “betrothal to a demon.” Except that she’s very much betrothed, and he’s very much a demon—one who’s only agreed to the nuptials to steal Molly’s ancient daemon powers. Brash, arrogant, and built like a Greek god, Tensley Knight keeps showing up to save Molly from otherworldly attacks, only to insult her a moment later. As Molly learns more about the demon world, she realizes two things: that her family’s safety depends on a successful marriage, while any chance of freedom she’ll ever have calls for Tensley’s demise. Yet sometimes Molly spots a tortured soul beyond those liquid grey eyes, and there’s no denying the way her skin tingles when Tensley touches it. In Vein of Love, safety requires sacrifice, foe becomes lover, and one must decide whether to kiss...or to kill.

Jazmin's Review

★★★★★ 4.5 stars!

Wow! This book was really great for a debut novel. I don't read a lot of paranormal romance, but when I do I want it to be like this book! It's a need for a book to have that balance of action and the romance or it won't really grab my attention which is weird for soomeone like me that loves her romance books. For me paranormal romance doesn't need to focus more on the romance than the actual plot and this book did just that. It had enough action to have me on the edge of my seat anticipating what is going to happen next and it was exciting!

I feel like I'm in the minority with the pace of the book at the beginning. I had no problem whatsoever because it wasn't insta-love and the reaction Molly had of finding out about her demon fiance, Tensley, was realistic.

Molly and Tensley don't really have a good impression of each other at first as they meet in a sticky situation. Molly is living a normal life as a human girl and was never told about the other world that exists so when Tensley arrives and tells her about an ancient contract their families once made and she is his fiance whether she likes it or not, their relationship starts on the wrong foot.

Tensley is a demon who is not allowed to show any compassion or he will be risking his life. He has grown to live with a hard wall built to not let anyone get close or grow any feelings. Because of that he acts cold towards Molly who is one of the most compassionate person he has ever met. They couldn't possibly be any more different, but as they spend more time together Molly starts breaking through that wall and you can feel it. Their sexual tension is one of the things that gives it away. Every heated gaze, every small touch, every small gesture was enough to make the temperature sky rocket and they couldn't deny the pull.

Overall I really loved this book. I loved that it wasn't in insta-love and that it wasn't only focused on the romance part of the book. The reason why I didn't give the book a full 5 star review was because of some stupid decisions Molly made throughout the book.
